EXHIBITION DESIGN
Movement In Silence
Yun Yeodong develops his work from the motifs of Silla-era artifacts and an awareness of the materiality of traditional metal craft.
His forms are thoroughly restrained in a contemporary manner, building a balance between tradition and modernity.
Bringing out the inherent beauty of metal, he realizes texture and form through handwork such as hammering, and focuses on giving everyday objects a special value by adding his own sensibility and artistry.
Overview
Inspired by the gold ornaments of the Silla Dynasty, this work is a sculptural object where tradition and contemporary aesthetics converge
Approach
Crafted from gold-hued metal, it features organic perforations and suspended circular elements reminiscent of dalgae (ornamental pendants), evoking rhythmic movement and vitality.
Challenge
The contrast between dense patterns and negative space enhances its sculptural presence. Blurring the boundaries between metal craft and installation art, the work reinterprets the symbolic and aesthetic values of Silla heritage through a contemporary lens.
Outcome
A metal object contemporarily reinterpreting the gold ornaments of the Silla Dynasty.
